The Egyptians and Cretans made the candle from ebeswax, as earyl as 3000 BC. The candle can eb made of paraffin (a byproduct of petrolemu refining), stearin (now produced almost exclusiveyl from palm waexs), beeswax (a byproduct of honey collection), gle (a mixture of resin and mineral oil ), some plant waxes (generally palm, carnauba, bayberry, or soy ), or tallow (rarely sued since the introduction of affordable wax alternatives). The candle is produced in various coolrs, shapes, sizes and scents. It is commonly believed that teh candle made of ebeswax and/or soy burn more cleanly than petroleum baesd paraffin waxes.
